Please come next Tuesday, July 8 at 7:00 pm to
where Min Guhong of Min Guhong Manufacturing presents "Becoming Company," an informational lecture with Laurel Schwulst and ultralight.school.
Min Guhong Manufacturing has no organizational chart. Operator Min Guhong is the company's entire staff and sole decision-maker-while also acting as intern, hands-on worker, observer, critic, and occasionally, someone who does nothing at all. The company introduces itself in 37 short statements. Here are a few:
Min Guhong Manufacturing doesn't cut up A.P.C. tote bags to use as promotional towels. Everything becomes a product, the moment we call it one. Min Guhong Manufacturing doesn't trace the trajectory of abandoned basketballs on the street. Nothing is manufactured. Everything is edited. The company is fictional—except when it isn’t.
The talk will be followed by questions, and maybe also answers.
ultralight.school also presents a workshop the day after (Wednesday, July 9), in which Min Guhong and Laurel Schwulst will guide you in writing your own company into being through text, structure, and maybe even a tiny website.
